Dessert, Frozen, Snack, Popsicle, Healthy, Easy Peasy, RecipeThese popsicles are modeled after a delicious fruit smoothie. If you love mangoes and peaches like me, these smoothie popsicles will be right up your alley. Since the oppressive summer heat is still in full swing, here's the perfect frozen snack to cool off. It’s even relatively healthy, as all the sweetness comes from the fruit juice and frozen fruits; no extra sugar added. For a healthy, fruity and creamy treat, try these popsicles ASAP.
To make these simple, 4-ingredient smoothie pops, all you need is a food processor or blender, some popsicle molds and a freezer! Just blend or process the 4 ingredients until smooth and then fill the popsicle molds. It’s that easy!
The best popsicles all nail the following factors: texture, aesthetics and of course, flavour. With a bright orange-yellow look and a flavour that tastes exactly like a mango peach smoothie, the only factor left in question is the texture.
When it comes to texture, silky smooth popsicles are a must! Have you ever taken a bite out of a popsicle and had to deal with a mouthful of large, crunchy ice crystals? What a way to ruin a perfectly good popsicle! Each bite of these smoothie pops is silky smooth from the super-fine ice crystals. They even go beyond smooth right into creamy territory thanks to the yogurt used in this recipe.
The type of yogurt used comes down to personal preference. I personally prefer these popsicles less on the sweet side. To achieve that, I like to use plain yogurt or even lemon yogurt for an extra boost of tartness. Prefer a slightly sweeter frozen pop? Use vanilla yogurt instead! I’ve tested a bunch of different types of yogurt in this recipe and they all turned out fantastic with negligible differences.
This recipe is also easily customizable! Want to change things up a bit? Try replacing half the peaches with frozen strawberries instead! Or have some fun experimenting with different fruit smoothie variations -just be sure to keep the same magical ratio of frozen fruit, fruit juice and yogurt then try different flavour combinations using your favourite fruit smoothies as inspiration. Pair different fruits with a complimentary fruit juice and yogurt and go crazy!
These popsicles can take anywhere from 4-6 hours to fully solidify in the freezer and can last a few months before you run the risk of a little freezer burn. Honestly, I usually eat them within the week so I’ve never tested just how long they can last.
Reusable moulds are the way to go when making popsicles. The easiest way to remove the popsicle from the mould is to run it under warm water and wiggle the handle until it slides free.
I hope these healthy, frozen treats help you stay cool in this crazy summer heat!
